June 15 – Martha’s Vineyard Island

After breakfast, set off with your Local Tour Guide to board the Steamship Authority Ferry and sail to the beautiful Island of Martha’s Vineyard. Once an early refuge for coastal ship traffic, it blossomed into a whaling community in the 18th and 19th centuries and became a popular tourist destination today. Explore the diversity of its island towns, walk along our pristine shores, and step back in time to a more leisurely pace.  Enjoy a guided walking tour of Oak Bluffs, noted for its collection of small Carpenter Gothic cottages clustered in the Methodist Camp Meeting Grounds, and Edgartown, known for its stately Greek revival homes built by sea captains of years ago. Return to the mainland after a full day of sightseeing.

Arrive in Province town at the tip of the Cape, embarking on a Dune Tour through the Province lands dunes, enjoying the beautiful natural scenery. Now a popular vacationing spot for the wealthy, Nantucket’s charm is associated with its cobblestone main street, narrow roads, simple Quaker-style homes, and handsome houses dating back to the whaling days of the early 19th century.  Enjoy a guided tour of this beautiful island and free time to explore the many charming shops before returning by ferry back to the mainland. Tonight, enjoy dinner on your own along the Harbor front or Main Street.
